WHAT ARE REMOTE SUPPORT SERVICES?

Remote supports utilize technology to connect you with a remote staff member to support safety and independence in your home. This technology allows you to communicate with a staff member using a tablet or other remotely supported technology, such as a sensor or call button. You can receive support to work towards your goals and increase, or maintain, your independence. Staff can also respond to your safety needs when needed. This service is perfect for people who are moving out on their own or need a little more support to stay in their current home.

This technology, supplied in partnership with SimplyHome, includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Tablets to support two-way communication
  • Door/motion sensors
  • “Call buttons”
  • Kitchen safety technology and more!

Our team will work with you to identify the technology that will work best for you and will provide staff who will support you remotely from the other end of this technology.

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED AND PAY FOR THESE SERVICES

To get started, our team will work with you and your case manager to obtain authorization for remote supports. This will be a residential service that will integrate with in-home support services.

We will work together to develop a plan of home supports (including remote and in-person staffing) and will provide an Enabling Tech Plan to summarize the recommended service model. Once authorization is granted, the service will be funded similarly to any other residential service. IAM’s team will then coordinate with you to install the necessary technology, and program it to meet your specific needs.
